[ignore] player option. Literally.

We do have a block option, it's nice, but eh. We still have to deal with this person chat posts. Specially if what he/she says is very annoying to us. Or, the username, I find some... very bothering and that username appears every time this person posts.
I feel very very uncomfortable with this. I know usernames are changed if break the rules, but this one doesn't break the rules, and yet still makes me very upset to look at chat.

And sometimes some people's chat content is every day the same, very upsetting behaviour, drama or just plain complaning with every word. I'd much rather not see it when it's always same people, and I'd much rather participate in chats with all the awesome other people in chat.

And yes, I brought up my concern to these people and they don't seem to care. While I was posting some stuff few people weren't happy about, we talked about it and it's all gone.

So my suggestion is:

[ignore] chat posts. That way we don't see username, we don't see the posts. Either it'd be fine - not seeing the post at all, or just a note [ignored] appearing if the person we're ignoring posted.

Seriously. I come here to play a dog sim game. I like reading in chat about random stuff, people's day, some funny actions at home, school, sure, dog designs, of course, art, politics, why not.
But sometimes the content is really disturbing like sexuality in chat, including usernames, and it's always the same people. If I wanted to see sexual stuff I'd join other website. Here I come to chill out and play after hard work. So I just ask for the players like me to feel more comfortable.

Support, only for chat and Forum posts though. Although it would require some coding and effort to get this to work.

Support. This would actually help me personally a lot...

No support. I can just see this causing all kinds of misunderstandings and fights in chat.

Honestly, this sounds rather excessive. I can't imagine any username within the rules that would be disturbing enough to warrant it, and if there is an especially disturbing username, I'd imagine it <i>wouldn't</i> be within the rules of the site. It seems unnecessary to add a whole feature in the name of a few players' squeamishness, when nobody's even breaking any rules. If their username is to the point where it's unsafe for kids who are old enough to be on the site, then they're breaking a rule and they can't keep their name that way. <br /> <br /> Also, "really disturbing like sexuality in chat, including usernames"? I don't quite understand what's so disturbing about someone vaguely mentioning their sexuality in a username. Maybe mentioning it is unnecessary, but "really disturbing" is some pretty intense word choice. If you're that easily disturbed by something that relatively harmless, the internet's probably not the best place for you. I mean, sure, I see players in chat that I don't care for and when they start harping on something, I don't like to see it. But I think it's best to just let the mods handle them (and they generally do once it comes to players who won't drop a subject) than to want to implement an entire ignoring feature. <br /> <br /> So yeah, no support from me, it just seems really pointless.

Major support! Some usernames and peopls etc I just don't care to see, including sexual ones, this is a break. If you were ignoring someone perhaps they wouldn't see your posts either? After all it would be pretty disastrous if they were talking to you x]

I support :) If you don't want to talk to someone you shouldn't have to see their posts as well. Especially if it's a complaint about said person. Could become a mod issue.<br />

I support. It's getting VERY tiring to see the same people bickering about the same stuff every single day until a mod has to come in and tell them to stop.<br /> <br /> Also... [shameless self-plug ahoy] you should check out my thread in regards to this: <i>"And sometimes some people's chat content is every day the same, very upsetting behaviour, drama or just plain complaning with every word. yes, that's the whole point of the thread, that it'd work on chat x3

Support. I would say this kind of thing should only be applicable to chat, though, so not to block people from PMing you if they need to get a hold of you for some reason.

how about PM, instead of caps :P

10-8-2011 at 11:16 AM
Semi-support.<br /> <br /> What if the 'ignored' person was talking to you ? They might get mad, use caps or something and get in trouble.
